White Ferragamo Vara Pumps
There are some classic styles that I have fallen in love with, and this only leads to buying them up in every color. Among my vintage Ferragamo shoe collection, the Vara pumps are my absolute favorite. I recently found these never-worn vintage pumps in white! The little grosgrain bow finished off with gold hardware and the one inch heel is so flattering. Salvatore Ferragamo still makes the Vara style today, I have always lusted after the patent pastel styles and more recently the perforated leather styles.
A New York City Staycation
Last weekend Patrick and I decided to have a little "staycation" vacation in Manhattan, so we checked into Hotel Americano. Changing neighborhoods for the weekend really can feel like a little getaway, I loved exploring Chelsea and the Meatpacking District as if it was my new home. Each morning we spent relaxing poolside with our books and coffees, I would recommend making a lunchtime reservation at La Piscine for some bites and drinks by the pool. The hotel also has bike rentals, which we took full advantage of for an afternoon ride along the water. On our return trip up the bike trail we stopped by the Gansevoort Market for dinner and gelato.
Silk Bandana Scarf
All white with a red bandana. I always love a good neck scarf, but for some reason I never had any desire to jump on the bandana train. That is until I saw this little red bandana handkerchief in silk- it suddenly seemed so much more luxurious and I had to have it. I only wish I could find it in more colors.
How to Break In Clogs
My shoe of choice is not always the most comfortable to break in, especially in a walking city like Manhattan. I have been too eager on multiple occasions after receiving a new pair of clogs, thinking to myself, "this time it won't be thaaaat bad..." After about my tenth pair of clogs (and lots of band-aids!) I have learned some tips and tricks to speed along the process and thought it would be helpful to share my easy three step process here. Before I even take a new pair of clogs out for a test run, I make sure to follow these steps. The last few pairs I have broken in this way have left me with what feels like clogs I have been wearing for a few weeks... and everyone who loves these wooden sole shoes like me knows, broken in clogs are THE most comfortable! Simply take a moist towel and dampen the inside on the toe box area and any edges that feel like they will rub your foot. Then put on a pair of socks, not too thick as you don't want to over stretch the leather. Wear your new clogs around the house for an hour or two. Slip the pair of clogs on without the socks to check how they feel, repeat the steps until you feel comfortable enough to take them out! Et voila, no need to grab a pack of band-aids for this pair!
